Painting (MA)
About
"Sometimes it feels as if we are living in two chapters of the same book, nearly two years after our world was flipped upside down. There was forced rest, an adjustment and now acclimation to a world that simultaneously looks and feels very different yet very much the same as it did in 2019. Many of us hoped that a seismic shift of this proportion would have resulted in a kinder, more compassionate and just world but there have surely been more questions prompted, than answers.
Our 2022 graduates, like the seasons have experienced all of the tides of emotional, physical and psychological shifts during a time, graduate school, that always proves to be monumental and
life-changing regardless of your age and background. They have done so with grace, empathy and creativity, turning to that which makes them feel and understand their body and the world they inhabit. Their studio and experience at the RCA has provided them with the tools that will enhance what they already possess: adaptability, resilience, dedication, passion and vulnerability. This for them is only the beginning, the work they’ve put forward for their degree show is history-making and life-altering. Sharing pieces of themselves in their work and through a lens that aims to help the fragments feel whole again or at the very least, make you and themselves simply feel."
