Interested in Living an Abundant Life

Statement

My works are mainly installations, paintings and drawings that involve performative and interactive elements. My artistic attention is always about boundaries. I expand on different materials by finding, breaking, or connecting those boundaries to interlock or interrupt the existing balanced ecologies of daily occurrences, which include relationships between people, unforgettable memories, and fetishes about meaningful objects.

Ways to Manifest 显化的路

“Ways to Manifest” is an interactive installation made of steel tubes and metal paint with a Kinect tracking system which is in progress. It is welcoming people to enter and to interact with. The ways to go through for different people are different. The ways I created this object is also very abundant; the process including by classifying, bending, connecting and so on. The process is simple, to go through, you can get your own route, and you can see the other’s route.

Welcome to experience the final work in our RCA2022 Graduate Show from 6/25-30 in RCA Battersea Campus.

MERMER 莫莫

“Mermer” is a series of 2d and 3d works with a character in different scenes and states by artist Jiachen Zeng. Zeng regards it as a reflection of self, so "Mermer" can be "Me-er" (me). This image is like a middleman, half black and half white, half bright and half dark; it has no gender and no expression. The intermediate state makes "Mermer" also "Middle-er". "Mermer" sounds like "Silent" in Chinese as “Mo Mo”, and in English as "Murmur". It is quiet; it seems far away; it seems familiar; it seems to be gossip; it also seems to be a gentle whisper.

Boundary Series 边界系列

People’s relationships are like puzzles, and the understanding is like the perfect matched state. In this pandemic, communications between people become mostly limited on a screen. Zoom meeting, Facetime, Youtube, Instagram... is the window for people to show their perfect parts with concern. What and how we show inside the screen boundary be-comes very important in this technological era.

I use canvas as my screen and window; the perfect matched puzzles is the subject. I’d like to show and question the phenomenan I mentioned above. With the limited and se-lected screen, how the boundary is created? What is the real boundary between people? What is outside the boundary? How do and should we see this world with the limited boundary?
