Lamprini Loukaidi
My practice is informed by a semiotic reading of everyday human interactions and society. Politics, sociology and philosophy are the main themes from which I draw inspiration. Growing up in Athens during years of extreme and brutal socio-political changes has had a direct impact on my work. I often use my practice as a way to reclaim my voice and reflect on systemic oppression.
I find myself best expressed through quick and unstudied illustrations. I am fascinated by the process of transferring those into short animations. My style is loose and unpolished and the inclusion of evidence of the creative process in the final piece is vital for me.
For my final year, I invited spontaneity and playfulness to be core elements of my practice. I navigated myself in a territory where I allowed uncertainty to be part of my process and worked organically without planning too much.
