Ramona Zoladek

My work focuses on the relationship between natural forms and man-made objects exploring the possibility of discovering new relationships between them. The combinations often come from my observations of nature - neglected, overlooked and ruined places. I often recreate ‘ruined landscapes’ that speak about life, the global economic situation, and mental health.

I am interested in how we create landscapes around us and our behaviour within it, care and repair. I am interested in changes to the landscape that relate to subjects of memory and migration. The objects that I create have their own life - they grow, shrink, expand, dry and decay. Therefore, time is particularly important. Many of my works look vulnerable, about to collapse. They immediately ask questions like "what is art?" or "where is the boundary between object making and art"? How we value, preserve and care about objects is important and influences their life span and appearance.
