Internationally exhibiting artist and researcher, Sara Sarshar, aims to engage in uncovering nonknowledge through the creation of a practice, named: y0uph0ria_. Becoming through y0uph0ria_ , with its alternative realms both corporeal and incorporeal, we reach the point, that the mind is the eye. Thus, this practice begins to succeed through y0u, the interactor—it becomes it in experience as it had become it in action; y0uph0ria as the mirror of the self’s experience and thought. 

y0uph0ria_ takes the route of an attempt at a truth practice. Through research analyses, the works come forth with CGI practices and creating interactive virtual spaces, as well as physical, tangible sculptures, all linked via trigger codes for motors, which move the surrounding sculptures. The methodology of these new augmented spaces, which namely bind the physical and virtual function through the capture of the sensorial experience, leading y0u to an inner experience.

Evidently, the urgency of opening inaccessible nonknowledge through an inner experience as well as an external sensorial practice, function with the dramatization of spaces such as the latest work of y0uph0ria_ [on view via the web or the physical show of RCA 2022] . Neon light, sound, vibrant colour, varied uses of surfaces and materials, sculpture, trigger based motorized sculptures, interactive virtual spaces: all encompass methods of sensing for the viewer to visualize an experience otherwise named inaccessible____ let us begin this experience, an attempt at truth, an attempt at uncovering nonknowledge.

NONKNOWLEDGE LAYS BARE.

Trauma infused events lead us to nonknowledge; fragmented truths leave us within an imagined state. y0uph0ria__ proposes that the imagined state can draw attention to the necessary gaps within the foundation of truths.

To brace the contemporary: we exist as imaginary creations and see, as well as understand our exterior through lenses of invention. Whether this invention is ours or someone else’s, our world today is dependent on more than factual report, it is equally dependent on interpretation, ideation, an inner experience, as well as other forms of constructivism heavily dependent on imagining.

In a digital age where experiences of witnessing remain urgent, how can we produce a realm for nonknowledge to surface, despite the risks of imagination?


Trauma infused events lead us to a state of nonknowledge, where fragmented truths leave us within an imagined state. This imagined state, often feels futile within the framework of epistemology, witnessing and general intelligence—it becomes inadmissible within authoritarian spaces. I propose, nonetheless, that the potential pitfalls of imagination can draw attention to the necessary incorporeal gaps within the foundation of truths.


Soon, I, too became y0uph0ria_ itself, celebrating my being as an alien and its perks daily. In search for the truth, essentially: nonknowledge, a space is created to experience ourselves, our memories, through an inner experience, through imagination and through y0uph0ria_.

Imagining—a pure play of intelligence without anguish. Communication and the attempt to attain knowledge, still is, like anguish, to live and to know. Evidently, Bataille, claims ecstasy is grasped knowledge when one can let oneself go, this itself is satisfaction, happiness, platitude and where knowledge returns.  The neon sign of y0uph0ria signifies a light toward the so-called solution of attaining knowledge, ‘ecstasy’. 

The felicity of inner movement and thought is lost in search for the object—in the site of movements, they flow into an external existence. Here the physical entities of the installation act as the external object. Bataille names, inner movements as neither object nor subject, thus, the necessity of the object, which is to say: the necessity of getting out of oneself, becomes urgent. 

The movement of trauma infused communication goes no less from within to without than from without to within—from the object to virtual interactivity to you. Y0uph0ria drives our thought toward, imagining and experience as a source of knowledge through a corporeal space.

CONTAINER OF INNER EXPERIENCE. Container of nonknowledge. Fragments of life cast sculptures merge with the virtual, merge with y0ur experience. They begin to consider the realms, which go beyond nonknowledge.

The history of the past equivalently exists in our imagination as fragments, fading through blurred thought. Working with certain materials such as synthetic plaster, resin and metal amplify the concepts of tangibility of the past and its historic value—as these materials have classically been known for their durable qualities. Plaster especially synthetic plaster being used recurrently in the practices of y0uph0ria, and have historically been used to archive documents, photographs among other objects in need of documentation.
