So Young Kim-statement

The main subject matter of my work has always been fragments of objects.

Over the years, I found an affiliation with Steyerl's designation of the image as an object. Therefore, objects used in my works have shifted from material objects to image objects.

The transition from material objects to image objects reflects the mechanisms of the world of internet platforms. Images are an important part of my work, but to find them, one needs to start with the words to search for. Words have created infinite connections on internet platforms with images (signifiers- words, symbols, images). These collected fragments of images are deconstructed and recomposed with my conceptual interpretation of them. (signified- mental concept. it can be feeling, impression, or abstract ).

Therefore My work is an outcome of deconstructed and recomposed signifiers and signified, and it acts as a sign(Sign is real, the 'Thing', 'object').
