Narrative Animation

Tianqi Wu

Tianqi Wu-statement

Tianqi is interested in exploring social phenomena, human relations and the future world, and attempts to narrate her thoughts by imagining a worldview in animation. She is good at telling stories through characters. In her graduation project, she tries to show the close relationship between people and society through the impact of changes in the urban environment on the lives of the characters.

In her learning processes, Tianqi likes to study the combination of multimedia to make films, and now she is exploring how to bring the immersive viewing experience to the audience through narrative animation and sound. Looking forward to collaborating with composers, sound designers, and interactive installation artists to make creative animations in the future.

The film Lost City Lost Sea tells the story of the ocean pollution caused by the excessive land reclamation in the city. The deterioration of the environment is not only threatening the livelihood of the old fisherman but also the dead fish turned into red tides that seem to take an act of natural revenge to devour the city.

The original motivation for this project came from the current reclamation in my hometown, Qidong, which has caused irreversible changes to the coastal environment. Making this film inspired me to think about the relationship between urban development and ecological health.
