Kyurim You

Kyurim You is a CMF (colour, material, finish) designer. She studied fashion textile print at the London College of Fashion and completed a Master's degree at the Royal College of art. 

She applies new aesthetics and properties to various materials beyond fashion and gives an emotional aspect to people's experiences. Kyurim is interested in discovering a material's potential and researching the new process for seeking aesthetics.

Kyurim You-statement

Kyurim's project aims to explore high-potential silk and find sensuous aesthetics with new processes and developments. She focused on finding various surface aesthetics using silk-based biomaterials.

 

She investigated wool melting, laser devore, which can replace the traditional Devore process using non-harmful chemicals. Also discovered the potential of silk proteins through silk degumming. Silk-based biomaterials mixed with seaweed extracts can exhibit Devore effects and embossed surfaces.

 

Kyurim You believes that finding new aesthetics through multiple techniques, developing materials, and designing can make people feel a unique sensibility, aesthetic and philosophy that people have never experienced before.
