Olivia Oliver is a film photographer originally from London, U.K. Her work is inspired by nuanced romanticism, raw beauty and minimalism. Olivia photographs predominately on medium format film and as a result of the global pandemic, she more recently developed a passion for hand printing through the method of salt printing.

This academic year I created a project which is centred around the healing properties of salt water from my own personal experience.
Through living by the ocean in Australia, as a result of the global pandemic, I have noticed the ways in which my body has been able to heal and disregard the past traumas of my life, traumas which had always impacted my mental health and the way in which I saw the world.
As a result of this, I created a photographic project dedicated to Australian seascape and through the process I taught myself Salt Printing. Salt Printing is a hand printing technique in which image negatives are coated in sodium chloride + silver nitrate and then exposed to sunlight.
This project has been both challenging and therapeutic.
