Graduated from Royal College of Art, Painting. My work focus on intimacy, tenderness and interior spaces.
Intimacy as a connection between people, as well as a boundary between selves shapes people’s sense of identity and coexists with alienation and individualism. Since 2020-when Covid first appeared, billions of people experienced the unexpected and uncomfortable nature of lockdown. In my work, I propose questions of intimacy during this particular period of time: do we want more intimacy or do we want more personal space? Do we want to go back to living in groups or are we becoming more and more independent? In my paintings, I aim to embody the paradoxical situation of intimacy. I explore how intimacy is illustrated, represented and understood through painting.
Recently I have been focusing on the space of bathrooms-where everyone is supposed to be naked with the exposure of private body parts. What would happen when I bring these moments into public? What if I invite strangers to participate in these intimate events? What are the boundaries between private and public?
