Emotions leave traces in the body, and I try to visualize those invisible and unspeakable inner emotions through the imprints. These traces are like a container, carrying my emotions, my inner spirit.
In my work, the anxious movements of my hands that I depict through embroidery are derived from my emotional feelings during insomnia. For me, the body and soul in insomnia are out of control, which is a silent confrontation between the body and the inner spirit. The repressed emotions can only leave traces through the body. Embroidery is like the posture of tossing and turning in bed when I have insomnia. There are joyful catharsis and painful repetition in the process of embroidery, which also records the real emotional ups and downs. For the last step, I chose to print the embroidery rough on clay. In the printing process, the clay is like a controlled body that is continuously kneaded and reshaped. These vague and different shades of the imprint may be the struggle to suppress emotions or the calmness after the struggle.
