Menglin Tian

Menglin Tian (1998) is a product designer born in Hunan Province, China. In 2020, she received her bachelor's degree with honors from Jiangnan University in Wuxi.Her work focuses on lifestyle, materials, decompression, fun, and adding surprises to life. While studying at the Royal College of Art to complete her master's degree, she set up studio MerymoryMolly (Mang Shen Me Shi Wu Suo) with Jinyang Du and Ting Jin. She believes that even though there are many challenges ahead in the present situation, we should face our lives with an optimistic and positive attitude. As a designer, her work is committed to solving problems in an interesting, poetic and playful way, adding some happiness and flash to people's lives.

2020-2022, unprecedented challenges change the life we used to take for granted. This is an opportunity for me to rethink and examine what we think of life and the undercurrents of peace.

We will see problems that were previously ignored emerge and magnify. Each of these challenges reminds us that our daily lives need to be rethought and redesigned. Even though there are many challenges ahead, I always believe that we should face our life with an optimistic and positive attitude. As a designer, MY work is committed to solving problems in an interesting, poetic and playful way, adding some happiness and flash to our life.

ANYA series is based on the concept of traditional Chinese acupuncture, which is worn on the hand to help ordinary people find acupoints and self-cure by pressing.

Inspired by the unique street architecture of the UK, Creaon is a multi-use toy which focuses on the creative, open-ended imagination of children aged 1-6. Made of Soy Wax, Creaon has a variety of features due to its malleability, from drawing pictures to creating different shapes, which allows children to combine gameplay with drawing. Creaon can still be played with if it is damaged because of the nature of Soy Wax. It helps children realise their ideas and be creative – a building block to build, a balance block to exercise concentration and so on. When Creaon has done its job, it will exist in the form of cute paintings for children rather than space hogs for parents. The material used makes it more environmentally friendly than regular plastic toys, and the cardboard packaging is simple and environmentally friendly.
