Service Design (MA)

Sinan Gu

During this time I have been involved in collaborative projects with the UK government, PA Consulting, Replenish Earth, etc.

This time we are focusing on the future of work for international graduates studying in the creative industry. Due to rapidly changing industries, and the considerable gap between graduates' educational backgrounds and the job market, graduates lack the ability to assess themselves and future opportunities, and more and more of them are not willing to commit to any of the decisions.

Therefore we designed CompaSOS: A community-based career matching platform that helps hover graduates, by providing them with self-evaluate approaches such as peer review and dynamic reports, also an intuitive analysis matrix to find satisfying careers.

During graduates’ roles transformed, they can get different help in different processes of the service.

We expect CompaSOS can guide graduates to become self-experts and to know themselves, step out of the invisible cage and fly into the sky where they belong. The sky is wide and free, and this freedom is only about one's choice.

Show Location: Kensington campus: Darwin Building, Lower ground floor

Chinese creative graduates studying in the UK struggle to make decisions about their future careers
CompaSOS BACKGROUNDDue to China's rapidly changing industries, as well as the considerable gap between graduates' educational backgrounds and the Chinese job market, graduates lack the ability to assess and analyze future opportunities and are not willing to commit to any of the decisions.
CONCEPT DEVELOPMENTWe, therefore, asked Chinese international graduates aged 20-26 some questions about their attitudes and perceptions about job recruiting after graduation through questionnaires and also, conduct some deep interviews with stakeholders like junior designers and company HR also career advisers to know how they are doing to help younger graduates to solve this struggle. We found some patterns and categorized them into three personas: Hovering graduate, Confused candidate, and contented seeker
