Xiaojiao Liu-statement

My project is to explore a collision and balance between tradition and future, virtual and reality by combining traditional Chinese knots with modern computer technology. I hope to give this ancient symbol a contemporary or futuristic feel.

The Chinese knot is a traditional Chinese handicraft that uses a rope to weave logically to form a series of aesthetic shapes. I have always believed that everyone's national culture is a gift from their own background. Chinese knots are one of the elements of my project, and calligraphy and seals are also my sources of inspiration. Combining clothing with the twisting logic of Chinese knots and the rhythmic beauty of calligraphy.

Different types of calligraphy have different writing structures. I chose bird worm seal script as my inspiration element, because seal script is more symbolic, which not only retains the beauty of calligraphy, but also has a mysterious sense of symbols. At the same time, after the calligraphy creation, the creator usually has to print his own red seal on the work. I took some elements of red seals. These red seals endow the calligraphy works with another unique beauty and also give me a strong aesthetic feeling.

I want my work to be random and feel free. And the feeling that calligraphy brought me was exactly the beauty I wanted to express.
